I'm back and ready for action. Its been a tremulous few weeks, but I'm finally getting my life back on a less chaotic schedule. I finished another semester of law school and feel great about it. Next up is my summer aboard and I could not be more excited. Stay tune for the upcoming developments.
My first post back is all about speaking your mind!
Right time my ass, I don't have statistics on the subject, all i know is that i feel like crap when i hold my tongue and i feel great when i get it all off my chest.
Sure we live in a where 'filters' are a basic requirement for communication. But we all have that one (or two) friend(s) that does not have a filter and really what is the worst thing we've ever heard them say. Sure sometimes its embarrassing and sometimes its insensitive and sometimes they have horrible timing. But it is my experience that usually whatever they blurt out is exactly what I'm thinking. Of course i think that it is important to be tactful with your communication skills, but that doesn't mean you should ever edit yourself. Think before you speak and once you are sure about where you stand make the world hear your opinion. Whether it be politics, education, religion, or the new pair of shoes your best friend wants to buy, let it out. I think its therapeutic to verbally escape what's on your mind and important not to bottle up your feelings. In my experience what happens to bottled up feelings is the same thing that happens to a shaken up bottle of soda: foaming, over-flow of volcanic proportions. Don't be the next Eyjafjallajokull and say what you need to say.
