Its week 5 of 6 and time is just flying by. Right now the word on everyone's lips is G20. The city is spending 1 billion dollars on security and has designated the protest zone to Queen's Park (aka across the street from my room). The school is considering revising our exam schedule in order to avoid the protesting shenanigans and everyone is just generally curious about how this whole international event with go down.
Friday, I attend the Krinock Lecture. It was sponsored by Cooley and the attendees included: all of us in the study aboard program, the entire Cooly Board of Directors, all of our professors, and the key note speaker-Dean of Osgood Hall (aka, Canadian Harvard Law). It was kind of a big deal. We all got dressed up and smoozed with the faculty, desperately trying to score network connections and letters of recommendation. After the formal event, the group of us (students) continued the celebration by spending the rest of the night at Pravda, a vodka bar, and had probably one of the best nights out in Toronto I've had. (Definitely makes the top 5 list).
I was preoccupied however, because this weekend my Mom and Mike came to visit. It was SO good to see my mom and get to show her what I've been up to for the past couple of months. The city was a bit overwhelming for them at first, but by the second day Mike was taking the subway on his own and Mom was walking into Tiffany's as if she owned the place :) I was able to show them all of my favorite parts of the city and we really enjoyed our time together. I had to soak it all up, since there will be no family time for a couple more months once I venture off to London.
