The National Gallery
Yesterday after class I visited the London's National Gallery. I pass it every day on my way to class and even from the outside it is an impressive building. All the big names, from Leonardo da Vinci to Rembrandt, from van Gogh to Cezanne, strut their stuff here. This is one of the greatest art museums on the planet. On display are some of the most important art pieces ever created and the panoramic galleries cover 8 centuries.
After studying art through the pages off a text book, it was unbelievable to stand before the real pieces and see the line, color, and texture. The museum was pretty crowded while I was there and it closes fairly early, so I was only able to see about a third of the entire layout. But I did manage to see all of my favorites: Monet, Renoir, van Gogh, and Degas. I'll definitely be making a return visit!
